What is Traffic Management Plan?

A Traffic Management plan is a written document which person(s)  working on a public roadway, footway or cycle track must have in place in order to engage in work.

There is an onus on persons working on the above to ensure:

  • Adequate guarding and lighting is provided, & traffic signs are placed & maintained, & where necessary operated, as reasonably required for the safe guidance or direction of persons, having regard, in particular, to the needs of people with disabilities;
  • There is on site, at all times when the works are in progress, at least one person with a valid Signing, Lighting and Guarding CSCS card.
Do I need a Traffic Management Plan?

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, it is a legal requirement for contractors to manage traffic on public roads whilst working on them.
